The 3,2,1 Method Of Inducing Self Hypnosis
First things first. Make sure you will not be disturbed and that things in your environment are set up to allow you to relax. Phone off. Iron off. Kids locked outside.
Once everything is in place, make yourself comfortable (sitting or lying is fine whichever you prefer) and give yourself (your subconscious) the following directive.
“I am now about to go into trance. I am going into trance to………. (Give your reason for doing this specific trance session. Eg; to relax and enjoy the trance experience…to help me stop smoking etc) and I will awaken in……. (Number of minutes you wish to stay in trance) feeling refreshed, revived, full of energy, feeling better than I have felt in a long time (or words to that affect).
Now take a deep breath in and close your eyes and begin to relax.
Step1) With your eyes closed, and remaining closed for the duration of your hypnosis
session, look upwards as if you are looking through a window in your
forehead. Don’t strain with this. Simply look gently upwards at about a 45
degree angle, as if looking through a window in your forehead.
Step2) Visualise a screen as you look upward. A pale cinema like screen. And on
that screen, see the number “3” flash on and off three times. This is a slow
(about a second apart) visualising of the number “3” three times.
“3”………”3”………”3”
As you visualise the number “3” you also say “3” to yourself. Say the
number “3” three times as you visualise the number “3” three times.
Step3) Repeat step 2 with the numbers “2” and “1”. Saying each number three
times, to yourself as you visualise each number three times. Make sure
to keep your gaze upward, as if looking through the window in your
forehead.
Say “3”, Visualise “3”….Say “3” Visualise “3”…Say “3” Visualise “3”
Say “2”, Visualise “2”….Say “2” Visualise “2”…Say “2” Visualise “2”
Say “1”, Visualise “1”….Say “1” Visualise “1”…Say “1” Visualise “1”
To add to the relaxation effect, as you are saying the numbers to yourself
slow them down gradually. So if the first time you say “3” is pretty much
your normal tone of voice, by the time you say “1” for the last time your
internal voice should be veerrrrryyyy slowwww and drawn out........
This creates the effect of slowly bringing yourself down into a very relaxed
state.
Step4) Countdown from 10-0 slowly to yourself. You can visualise each number on
Your screen if you wish but it is not necessary. Also, slow down the count
and how you say each number to yourself. After you do the 3-1 part of this
method you will be in a light trance state. By counting down slowly and
going more slowly with each number, you get to go deeper into trance.
By the time you reach “0” you will be in a deeply relaxed state of self hypnosis. Don’t be alarmed if you appear to drop off to sleep or forget to count. If you become aware of it simply return to the countdown. The only way you can get this method wrong is to get your intellect involved. You have already set your intention before you started. Trust your subconscious to do what needs to be done. Let go and have the experience. Don’t pre-empt it. Don’t judge it. Don’t try to make it be any other way than what it is. Get out of your own way and it will happen. It can’t not work, although it is often different the first time than people imagine it will be.
Set your intention. Be relaxed about it. Don’t have any expectations. Follow the instructions as listed above and you will have the experience.
This can literally be done in a couple of minutes. Or you can spend 20 minutes doing a formal self hypnosis session. My suggestion is to practice as much as you can. Not necessarily for anything other than simply getting experienced at going into trance and getting to know what it feels like. Getting some familiarity with the state. That’s really the best goal for you know.
Each day spend at least 15-20 minutes in trance. This can be your formal trance session. Additionally practice the above method in quite times during the day. Or noisy times for that matter. Just follow the procedure as described and you will experience trance every time you use it.
Please keep in mind the driving and heavy machinery caution. No trance work when doing activities that need your full conscious attention, ok.
Also remember that the more you practice the easier it gets (like most things).
